In memoriam

Tribute to the late Prof PFK Eagles and Mrs L Peteni

It is with sadness that the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) says goodbye to two outstanding members of the profession. Former SAPC President, Professor Peter Eagles and former SAPC Vice-President, Ms Luleka Peteni both passed away in 2018, both of whom will be remembered for their contribution to the profession of pharmacy in South Africa.

Prof Peter Eagles

Professor Peter Eagles, former President of the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) (1998 – 2008), passed away on 17 May 2018. Professor Eagles was dedicated to the profession of pharmacy and was especially passionate about pharmacy education. Professor Eagles was a well-liked and respected professor of pharmaceutical chemistry at the University of the Western Cape for many years. A true leader and mentor, his passion for the profession that he loved so dearly will never be forgotten.

In Memoriam - Ms Luleka Peteni

Ms Luleka Peteni

Ms Luleka (Lullu) Peteni, former Vice-President of the SAPC (2003 – 2008), passed away on 2 July 2018. During her tenure as Vice-President, Ms Peteni participated in several committees of Council as well as chairing the task team that initiated the development of the Human Resources Plan for Pharmacy. After her term of office, Ms Peteni continued to serve South Africa by practising her beloved profession until her passing. Ms Peteni’s devotion and zeal for pharmacy has left an undying impact on the profession.
