2016 National Pioneer Pharmacy (Professional and Facility) Awards

Thank you for all the nominations submitted, confirming the brilliance of South African Pharmacy!
Stakeholders were invited by 14 July 2016 to nominate those candidates they feel have raised the bar in best pharmacy practice and the level of care to communities.

The 2016 SAPC National Pioneer Pharmacy Awards, sponsored this year by Aspen Pharmacare, will be presented at a prestigious gala dinner during the 2nd National Pharmacy Conference to be held in Durban between 21 and 24 October 2016.

Over the past nine years the SAPC Pharmacy Awards have been a means of inspiring and honoring pharmacy professionals across a broad range of pharmaceutical industries and sectors. The awards were initially included in the National Health Recognition Awards hosted by the National Department of Health, but when the department terminated the awards in 2012, Council opted to continue hosting its own ceremony under the banner of the SAPC National Pioneer Pharmacy Awards. Additional categories have been included to cater to the diverse sectors that comprise the profession.

The first National Pioneer Pharmacy awards were presented at the highly acclaimed 1st National Pharmacy Conference held at Sun City, North West, South Africa in June 2013.

The 2016 awards will follow the same format and be presented during the 2nd National Pharmacy Conference to be held at the Durban ICC between 21 and 24 October 2016.

Council seeks to stimulate innovation in research and practice and acknowledge quality pharmacy professionals and leadership that will advance the profession and its role within the South African healthcare system. These awards honour the men, women and facilities that have shone in the delivery of excellent, quality pharmaceutical services.

“Council strongly believes in the progressive impact pharmacy is making in South Africa. The pharmacy awards give us an opportunity to showcase our endeavors, and we encourage public and professional stakeholders to nominate their trailblazing pharmacy talent. Such pharmacy professionals and facilities are our role models and their achievements will serve to show their peers how much can be gained by fostering talent and focusing on quality pharmaceutical service delivery. Council is proud to announce the awards will again be bestowed upon deserving candidates at our long-awaited 2nd National Pharmacy Conference.”

Amos Masango, SAPC Registrar/CEO

An adjudicating panel, appointed by Council, will assess the submissions and choose the respective national winners. The decisions of the panel will be final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into after the panel has made its decision. The names of the winners of the top honours, the Pioneer Pharmacy Professional Award and the Pioneer Pharmacy Facility Award, will be withheld and officially announced at a specially planned gala dinner on 22 October 2016.
