APPOINTMENTS, RETIREMENTS, PROMOTIONS AND RESIGNATIONS

The South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) is happy to present to the profession ten (10) newly appointed and promoted employees, who have undergone rigorous selection processes. They bring with them a range of skills, experience and capabilities to help the SAPC fulfil its legislative mandate. In this period, we are also bidding farewell to three (3) colleagues, one of whom is retiring.

Marcus Lentsoane

Contact Centre Agent

Mr Marcus Lentsoane joined the SAPC in 2023 as a Contact Centre Agent. His duties at Council include handling all digital inbound queries via telephone, e-mails, web chats, and social media.

Before his time as Council, Marcus had many exciting experiences such as being a barista, sales consultant, and retention advisor.

Marcus studied Media Studies majoring in radio at Boston City Campus and he believes that the key to professional success is “to be on top of your game, be willing to learn and never let anyone bring down your confidence”.

Portia Munyai

Contact Centre Agent

Ms Portia Lufuno Munyai joined the Contact Centre at Council in April 2023. She brings along years of experience in the customer care field and believes that customer service has made her open to learning about different people and making connections because her assistance can change their lives.

Her duties at Council include Digital Interaction Support on registration procedures, status of registration, financial enquiries, pre-registration experience, in-service training and approval of tutors and premises.

She holds an A+ PC engineering certificate from Havatech and a call centre certificate. Portia’s motto in life is “Be different, it is very important to be different”.

Nthabiseng Nkhumane

Contact Centre Agent

Ms Nthabiseng Nkhumane joined Council in March 2023 as a Contact Centre Agent. She holds a diploma in marketing from the Tshwane North College and brings onboard extensive experience in the customer service field.

Some of her responsibilities at Council include the professional handling of all digital inbound queries via telephone, e-mails, web chats and social media.

Nthabiseng believes that patience and the will to learn are rewarding in the long run and her motto is “move with the movers in the right direction because everything is achievable, you just need to trust the process and never stop learning”.

Boitumelo Mokoena

Courier Admin Clerk

Ms Boitumelo Portia Mokoena joined the South African Pharmacy Council in January 2023 as a Courier Admin Clerk. Her duties at Council include processing stakeholder certificates and documents for courier service delivery. Before her time at Council, she held a similar role at ESAB and is currently pursuing a law degree at the University of South Africa.

She believes that a good work ethic and professionalism are key to landing a perfect job opportunity and having a long-lasting career. She also describes her time at Council as “a life-changing experience”.

Phonia Tshoane

Professional Conduct Officer

Ms Phonia Tshoane joined the South African Pharmacy Council as a Professional Conduct Officer effective August 2023. Her duties and responsibilities include investigating complaints from the public relating to unprofessional conduct by registered pharmacists and pharmacy support personnel, pharmacies referred for removal, and non-compliance with Continuing Professional Development requirements, and compiling investigation reports.

Phonia holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from the University of Limpopo and has also completed Practical Legal Training from the Pretoria Law School, Law Society of South Africa.

Before her time at Council, Phonia worked as a Legal Intern on a vocational work programme at PMK Tladi and Associates as well as a Candidate Legal Practitioner at Michael Raphela Attorneys. She is a firm believer in giving back to the community through service and says that there is no reason why we should not win because no one is forbidden from trying countlessly.

Thabiso Maripana

Professional Conduct Officer

Mr Issac Thabiso Maripana joined the South African Pharmacy Council as a Professional Conduct Officer effective July 2023. His duties include investigating complaints from the public relating to unprofessional conduct committed by pharmacy professionals, investigating pharmacies referred for removal and compiling investigation reports.

Thabiso holds an LLB degree from the University of South Africa and before his time at Council, he worked for the Office of the State Attorney in Pretoria as a Candidate Attorney and later joined the Human Sciences Research Council as a Support Clerk.

Thabiso’s motto in life is “there is no better time than now”, which he says emphasises the importance of working hard from the onset and avoiding procrastination.

Sheetal Harichander

Manager: Professional Affairs (Education)

Ms Sheetal Harichander joined the SAPC in January 2023 in the capacity of Manager: Professional Affairs (Education). She obtained a Bachelor of Pharmacy and a Master of Health Sciences degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN). She is currently working towards completing her PhD in Pharmacy at UKZN.

Prior to joining the SAPC, Sheetal was a Responsible Pharmacist and Pharmacy Manager at Clicks Pharmacy Rivonia. Sheetal is a hardworking and self-motivated individual who is passionate about pharmacy and serving the public. She works well under pressure and completes tasks of high quality within tight deadlines. Her spare time is dedicated to participating in charity initiatives and completing CPD activities to keep abreast of the latest developments in the field.

“It is an honour for me to work for the South African Pharmacy Council and I look forward to serving the pharmacy profession.’’

Tinyiko Mhangwana

Manager: CPD & Registrations

Ms Tinyiko Mhangwana joined the SAPC in January 2023 in the capacity of Manager: CPD & Registrations. Among other things, she is responsible for developing and reviewing professional standards, accreditation criteria and tools, monitoring tools (universities and pharmacies) and guidelines.

She holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Limpopo and a Master of Business Administration from the Turfloop Graduate School of Leadership, University of Limpopo. Before joining Council, she occupied various roles including pharmacist, senior pharmacist, acting pharmacy manager and part-time lecturer.

Tinyiko believes that the key to professional success is dedication, commitment, and passion.

“I love contributing to people’s lives and working in healthcare services provides an opportunity for me to improve the quality of others”.

RETIREMENTS

Sinah Mabje

Logistics Officer

Ms Mapula Sinah Mabje was appointed as an Administrative Assistant/Receptionist in June 2000. She was then transferred to the position of Senior Education Officer in June 2005. She then moved to Stakeholder Relations as a Customer Care Officer in 2012 and later worked as a Logistics Officer from July 2017.

After 23 years with Council, in August 2023 she retired. Ms Mabje was affectionately known as Mmane Sinah and she will be dearly missed. We wish her all the best in her future endeavours.

Liza Mangoale

Manager: Information Technology

Ms Liza Ramolwetsi Mangoale joined the SAPC as an Intern in 2012 and later became an IT Technician in 2015. Before joining the SAPC, Ms Mangoale was a Field Service Engineer at Gijima. She holds a National Diploma in IT (Communication Networks) and a Bachelor of Technology (Information Systems) from Tshwane University of Technology (TUT). She is also certified in ITIL v3 Foundation and Project Management.

She was promoted to Manager: Information Technology in April 2023 and brings with her 15 years of experience in information technology.

Among her duties in her capacity as Manager: Information Technology include managing information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure, maintaining IT systems as well as managing IT security, which includes IT Disaster Recovery and Service Continuity Plans.

Liza believes that one should do their best and trust God to do the rest.

Kgaugelo Makofane

IT Technician

Mr Kgaugelo Makofane joined the SAPC in April 2022 as an Information Technology (IT) Intern. He was promoted to IT Technician in May 2023. Kgaugelo holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Information Systems from the University of Witwatersrand.

His duties at Council include system back-ups of all data and daily checklists in accordance with the backup schedule and selection as well as providing 1st and 2nd line desktop and network support.

He believes that technology provides an opportunity to automate solutions to problems which ultimately saves time, reduces human errors, and improves efficiency.

Stephina Maripane

Secretarial Support Officer Professional Affairs: Practice department

Ms Stephina Maripane joined the SAPC in August 2012 as a Contact Centre Agent Intern, she was then appointed as a Contact Centre Agent in October 2014, a position she worked diligently in for nine years.

Stephina holds a National Diploma in Management Assistant from Tshwane North College.

She was promoted to Secretarial Support Officer (Professional Affairs – Practice Department) in March 2023 where she is responsible for providing administrative and secretarial support to the Pharmacy Practice Department.

Stephina believes that you should always allow yourself the opportunity to learn new things.

Alfred Dooka

Contact Centre Agent

Mr Alfred Dooka joined the SAPC in April 2019 in the capacity of Contact Centre Agent which he fulfilled diligently for four years. Among his responsibilities was to provide support on registration procedures, status of registration, financial enquiries, pre-registration experience, in-service training and approval of tutors and premises.

We thank Mr Dooka for the excellent service rendered to the profession.

Mr Dooka left the SAPC in February 2023 and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

Phumelele Zulu

Information Technology Intern

Ms Phumelele Zulu joined the SAPC as an IT Intern in April 2022. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce specialisation in Information Systems Computing. Among her duties was to assist in the installation, maintenance and upgrading of hardware and software as well as updating and licensing of all software packages. She also provided support to all end-users with regard to the Register and associated applications.

We thank Ms Zulu for serving the profession with dedication. She left the SAPC in May 2023 when her internship programme came to an end; we wish her all the best on her journey going forward.
